Philotera1, daughter of Ptolemy I2 and Berenice I3, born c 315/3094 died probably after 282 and before 2685.
Given that the liaison between Ptolemy I and Berenice I began in c. 317, that her full sister Arsinoe II was born c316, and that her full brother Ptolemy II was born in 308, it seems likely that Philotera was born between them. Ý
The hymn of Callimachus on the death of Arsinoe II, partly preserved in pBerol 13417A and quoted by Macurdy (Hellenistic Queens 127), proves that Philotera died before Arsinoe II. 268 is the latest death date for Arsinoe II. Since Philotera was deified it is reasonable to suppose she died after the accession of Ptolemy II.
If Arsinoe II died in 268, it is possible that a temple erected in honour of a sister of Ptolemy II mentioned in the Pithom Stele (CCG 22183), apparently in connection with events of year 16 = 270/69, was a temple to Philotera. If so she must have died in 269 or earlier. Ý
