From London.
The simplest route is to take the M11
motorway leaving at exit 12 (the second exit marked for Cambridge) and following
the A603 towards Cambridge. After 1 mile, turn left into Grange Road opposite
the "Hat & Feathers" pub and take the first left into Selwyn
Gardens.
An alternative route from London is to take the A1 north,
leaving the A1(M) motorway section at exit 10 for Baldock. Take the A505 from
Baldock to Royston, staying on the northern bypass of Royston till the A10 north
to Cambridge is reached. Just south of Cambridge and north of Harston, join the
M11 going north, and follow the instructions for the first route from London,
leaving one exit later at exit 12.
From the North.
Take
the A1 south, leaving by the A14 (formerly A604) (signposted for M11 and
Cambridge). Join the M11 till exit 12 (the second exit marked for Cambridge) and
follow the A603 towards Cambridge. After 1 mile, turn left into Grange Road
opposite the "Hat & Feathers" pub and take the first left into Selwyn
Gardens.
Please note that parking in Selwyn Gardens is restricted to
resident permit holders Monday to Saturday 9 - 5 and Blue Badge Holders only.

Travel by Air |

There are three major London airports, Heathrow, Gatwick and
Stansted. Stansted is the most convenient in terms of location and amenities,
but, although there are regular flights from Paris, Amsterdam and a number of
other European destinations, intercontinental services are limited at present.
There are connections to destinations worldwide through Air
UK.
Via Heathrow.
There is a frequent coach service
from Heathrow airport to Cambridge beginning at 3.30 am and ending late evening.
The journey takes two and a half to three hours. The coach can be picked up at
the Central Bus Station (for Terminals 1 to 3) or outside Arrivals at Terminal
4. If you have a lot of baggage this is the simplest
option.
To
travel by
train, take the underground (Piccadilly line) to King's Cross (direct line),
from where there are twice-hourly express trains to Cambridge. The underground
service is very frequent and takes about an hour to central London. Do NOT use
Heathrow Express, which is exorbitantly expensive and will save very little time
because it only runs to
Paddington.
By road,
follow signs to the M25 and turn onto it in the direction of Watford, leaving it
by exit 27 onto the M11 going north to Cambridge (or take exit 23 onto the A1 to
follow the alternative route). The journey takes about 1 hour 40 minutes.
Via Gatwick.
There is a frequent but slow coach
service from Gatwick airport to Cambridge. The journey takes 4 to 5 hours.
If you don't
have too much baggage, it is better to use the direct rail link to Victoria
Station in London. From there one can either proceed by coach from
Victoria Coach Station nearby, or by rail, by
taking the underground (Victoria line) to King's Cross, then the express train
to Cambridge.
By road,
follow the signs to the M23 north towards London, leaving by exit 7, turning
right to follow the M25 east counterclockwise around London, crossing the Thames
at Dartford (where there is a toll charge of £1). Leave the M25 at exit 27 north
onto the M11 towards Cambridge (see by road from London). The journey takes
about 2 hours.
Via Stansted.
Stansted, London's
third airport, 25 miles to the south of Cambridge, is the most convenient major
international airport for Cambridge. There a direct coach service
to Cambridge and the journey is approximately 50 minutes. There is also an
hourly rail service, taking 30 minutes.
By road, follow
signs to the M11 and turn onto it going north towards Cambridge (see by road
from London). The journey takes about 40 minutes.
There is also an hourly rail service {make hyperlink}

Via Harwich or Felixstowe
Cambridge can be reached
easily from the passenger ferry ports of Harwich and Felixstowe, from which
there is a good road link to Cambridge using the A45. Leave the A14 (formerly
A45) by the B1049 (Histon Road) to Cambridge. Turn right (towards Huntingdon) at
the junction with the A1307 (Huntingdon Road), then, after 0.4 miles, take the
first left turn, into Storeys Way, and then follow instructions for approaching
Cambridge by road from the North. The journey takes about 1
hour. Trains from Harwich (Parkeston Quay) for London (Liverpool Street) are
timed to meet the Harwich ferry. From Liverpool Street, follow instructions for
travel by rail from London.
Via Dover or
Ramsgate
An alternative ferry route from the continent is via the
ports of Dover and Ramsgate. To proceed by road to Cambridge, take the M2
motorway to join the M25, turning north to cross the Thames at Dartford, leave
the M25 north at exit 27 onto the M11 towards Cambridge (see by
road from London). The journey takes about 2 hours 30 minutes.

When travelling by taxi, ask for "36 Selwyn Gardens", not Tyndale House.
Taxi drivers expect tips, but not ones like "It might be quicker if you
turn."
