What is the Tyndale Fellowship?

The Tyndale Fellowship is a fellowship of Christians engaged in biblical and theological research. Its aim is to promote the Christian faith through careful and honest study done in a spirit of loyalty to the historic Christian faith as enshrined in the Ecumenical Creeds of the Church and the Reformation Settlements. It is affiliated to the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship, and its members accept the theological position of the U.C.C.F.

Tyndale Fellowship members include evangelical scholars from all over the world. Scholars involved in biblical research or university-level teaching are invited to apply for membership, with the support of an existing member. Members receive a free subscription to the Tyndale Bulletin, free admission at Tyndale House Library for up to ten days a year, regular newsletters, and an invitation to the annual study groups.

Members and Associate members meet each year for a Conference of  Study Groups.

 

What does the Tyndale Fellowship do?

1. Members of the Fellowship are kept in touch with the affairs of the Fellowship and with each other by a six-monthly newsletter.

2. Study groups are held each year in Old Testament, New Testament, Biblical Theology, Christian Doctrine, Philosophy of Religion, and Religion, Culture and Communication. Study groups typically last two or three days and consist of papers and discussion on a chosen theme. The study groups normally meet at Tyndale House.

3. Every three years, the study groups meet together in a plenary conference, usually on a theme which is of comprehensive interest. Subject previously tackled have been religious pluralism, hermeneutics, and eschatology.

4. Each year the Fellowship arranges a number of public lectures in different fields of study, often during study groups. These Tyndale Lectures are intended to be significant scholarly contributions on topics of importance.

5. The Fellowship is closely linked to both Tyndale House and the Whitefield Institute. The House is a residential research library specialising in biblical studies. Members of the Fellowship are allowed access to Tyndale Library free of charge for up to ten days a year and are able to stay at the House at reduced rates.

6. The Tyndale Bulletin is a theological journal published bi-annually which is sent to current members. Tyndale Lectures and other articles by Fellowship members are regularly published in the Bulletin.

7. The Fellowship formed and supports the work of the Tyndale Fellowship Associates which is committed to keeping church leaders abreast of current trends in biblical and theological research.

8. Members are encouraged to contribute to biblical and theological research by means of theses, monographs, and journal articles, as well as by papers for study groups.

An annual membership fee is payable each spring. Members are sent a reminder of fees due and a membership renewal form on which they reaffirm their commitment to further the aims and beliefs of the Fellowship.

Membership is by election of the Committee, usually at its meetings in January and July.  Applications should be Applicants should ask their sponsor and referee to write to the same address.
        After the Committee has considered your application, the Secretary will write to you. If your membership has been accepted, you will be invited to complete your membership by paying the annual membership fee.
